Thank you for your interest in the Baringa Childcare Centre Board of Directors, a unique opportunity to provide your expertise to influence the strategic direction of an organisation with a rich history in early childhood education and care.


As a pivotal part of the community, Baringa has been caring for generations of families for over 35 years. Baringa offers a nurturing environment to deliver quality education and care, building strong relationships with great inclusion and consistency.


Building on the foundation of an Exceeding National Quality Standard, Baringa enters an exciting new phase, with the Association seeking nominations from families, community leaders and representatives with expertise in financial, education, legal, governance, education and inclusive service delivery.


The Baringa Board aims to be comprised of Directors with a diverse range of views and expertise, intertwined with a common commitment to enhancing the education and care of the most important members of our community – our children.


Nominations are welcome from interested individuals who are currently, or have eligibility to become an Association Member. Although Staff Members are unable to become candidates for the Board elections, they are encouraged to nominate other candidates and have voting rights.

Elected Board Members will commence their term from November 2018 with the first Board Meeting scheduled for 10 December 2018 7pm at Baringa Childcare Centre. Board meetings are held every 6 weeks with secretariat support from the Baringa Executive Officer.  Further information is at Section 11 of the Baringa Childcare Centre Association Incorporated Constitution and the Baringa Board Member Induction Policy

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 25 November 2018, 1230pm AEDST, following the Spring Working Bee (9am-12pm).

About Baringa

Baringa is a not-for-profit education and care service which provides education and care to 120 children at any one time, employs over 40 permanent staff and casual relief staff.


Baringa is an incorporated association operating under a Constitution and governed by the Associations Incorporation Act 1991 (ACT)The association operates using a Board of Directors who are required to hold a class of membership of the Baringa Association. The organisation is a registered charity, with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), endorsed to help General community in Australia, Families and Early childhood aged under 6. The annual gross total income is approximately $3 million. A copy of the 2017-18 Audited Financial Statements are available upon request.


The Board and Centre Management apply the fundamental principle of what is in the best interests of the children attending Baringa as their decision-making platform. The rights and dignity of children are upheld in how the Centre conducts business which includes policy planning, communications, strategic planning and compliance. Baringa recognises and celebrates the contribution different cultures bring to the Baringa community including families who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander or from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
