Due to increased cases of
COVID19 in NSW and Victoria, and in addition to ACT Public Health directions, the Baringa
COVID19 Action Plan has been updated. The following changes will take effect from Tuesday 21 July 2020:
b. They or a close contact travelled to hotspot locations (including of specific premises) as indicated in www.covid19.act.gov.au.
c. They or a close contact have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
2. Exclude children and staff for 14 days since they travelled to regions identified by Baringa Centre Management in addition to those mentioned in 1b.
- However if they provide evidence of a negative COVID-19
test, an exception can be made to allow them back in the centre prior to
the 14 day period ending.
- These regions will be made available on www.baringachildcare.com/covid19.
3. Request parents and staff to email [email protected] of the requirement to self-isolate as outlined above, as well as instances where children, staff and close contacts.
a. Experience flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat or headaches; or difficulty breathing; or
b. Have been requested by a medical professional to be tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting results.
4. For the purpose of this Action Plan, close contacts include, but are not limited to parents, children and others in the same household.
REGIONS IDENTIFIED BY BARINGA CENTRE MANAGEMENT
As of Tuesday 21 July 2020, children and staff are excluded from the centre since they travelled to the regions identified below. This is in addition to hotpot locations as indicated in www.covid19.act.gov.au. However if they are able to provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test, an exception can be made to allow them back in the centre prior to the 14 day period ending.
- Batemans Bay NSW
- Liverpool NSW Local Government Area
- Campbelltown NSW Local Government Area

In line with ACT Health advice, we have updated the Baringa COVID19 Action Plan. The centre continues to maintain hightened health and hygiene measures and Baringa staff have undertaken COVID-19 Infection Control Training.
A reminder to please keep your children home for the required exclusion period if they, or their parents/carers (close contact) have been -
- In contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19,
- Experience flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat or difficulty breathing,
- Tested, or requested by a medical practitioner to be tested for COVID-19.
The required self-isolation periods must be adhered to and
a medical certificate clearance needs to be provided prior to

You may have heard the Australian Government's announcement on the Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package. We welcome the Government’s focus on early childhood education and care, as an essential service for our community. Stay tuned as we help you understand what this means for your family.

Baringa is allowed to stay open and provide support in whatever way is best for your family. As of today, 23 March, the ACT Government has advised there is no need for early childhood services to close.
If you have a Hibiscus child who requires additional days due to their government preschool going pupil-free, please email us at [email protected] with your required days. We have reserved spots should require them from Tuesday 24 March. We have also been advised there is no need for any change to vacation care services at this stage.
The Australian Government announced a series of measures to support families who:
- Require continued childcare services and need assistance to cover costs; and
- May choose to temporarily keep their children at home while keeping their
As such, we will be sending out more information about applying
for Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) Temporary Hardship which covers up to
100% of childcare fees. Legislation is also being introduced where the Child
Care Subsidy will continue to be paid to early learning centres like Baringa,
in the event of a temporary closure due to COVID-19.
Baringa welcomes these measures and will assist us in continuing to serve our community, supports our financial viability and continues employment for our hardworking, dedicated educators and staff.

This evening the ACT Government announced that schools and non-essential services will close from Tuesday, 24 March 2020. However, no specific guidelines has been provided for Early Learning Centres such as Baringa.
Baringa will be open tomorrow, Monday, 23 March 2020. We continue to monitor announcements and will keep you informed of matters impacting early childhood centres in the ACT.

As per the Baringa COVID19 Action Plan and Families FAQs circulated last week, if a mandated closure is implemented, childcare fees will not be charged, however voluntary contributions are welcome to assist centre funds.

The health, safety and wellbeing of Baringa children and staff is our highest priority.
As the concern for COVID-19 continues to grow, Baringa remains updated with information so we can respond accordingly. We continue to follow direction from the ACT Government and the Australian Government.
As of 18 March 2020, please be assured the ACT Government has advised it is safe for children to be at in education and care services. This recommendation is based on health advice and consistent with other states and territories, that schools and education and care services remain open for the foreseeable future.
